Sporting Clay Targets

Pheasant / Sporter Target
Essentially the same target as the Standard Trap & Skeet target, both 108 mm and same paint schemes. The difference between the two is the Pheasant/Sporter was designed specifically for Sporting Clays shooting. Based on longer throwing distances and faster speeds, the Pheasant/Sporter weighs a few grams more and is a bit denser in its configuration than the American Trap & Skeet target. For Sporting Clays we recommend you use the Pheasant/Sporter version. Both the Pheasant/Sporter and the American Trap & Skeet targets “smoke” extremely well and are used at the NSSA World Skeet Championships; ATA Grand American Trapshoot and the NSCA National Sporting Clays Championships. |
Trap and Skeet Target

Standard American Trap and Skeet Target
108 mm diameter this target is used at the NSSA World Skeet Championships; ATA Grand American Trapshoot. 3/4 Style Target (New York Style Target) Also known as the “DOP Target” is essentially the same target as the Standard AA Trap & Skeet Target (108mm). The only difference is in the paint scheme. This target differs in the fact that rather than have black on the throwing band / ring and orange on the dome, this 3/4 Style Target (New York Style Target) covers the black throwing band with orange on it as well as the dome. This target is used in many areas where the All Orange Target sometimes gets hard to see in clouds of contrasting colors and size. |
Rabbit Targets

Rabbit Target
The Rabbit target is designed to roll on its edge along the ground to simulate a bolting rabbit. This target has a special tougher rim to withstand the shock of being tossed outward on hard ground. As a result of this tougher rim, this can make them especially tough to break. The size of the Rabbit is the same as the Standard 108 mm. |
International

International Target
The size and weight of this target has been set by the governing body (UIT/ISSF). They stipulate the target should have a diameter of 110 mm and weigh 105 grams (plus or minus tolerances). These targets are used in International and Olympic competition. |
Mini Targets

Mini Target
As the name suggests, this is the smallest size used in Sporting Clays at just 60 mm. These Mini targets are very fast off the arm of the machine, but rapidly lose their momentum because of their lighter overall weight. |
Midi Targets

Midi Target
Similar to the Sporter/Pheasant target but with a diameter of only 90 mm. Used primarily in Sporting Clays, these Midi targets are often used to create an optical illusion, as they can appear to be farther away than they really are and deceive the shooter into giving them more lead than necessary. They are also faster than the standard target in the early part of their flight. |
Battue

Battue Target
These targets, although the same diameter as the Standard target (108 mm), the Battue is a wafer thin, flat target which can be presented as loopers, crossing or quartering targets. The Battue is faster through the air as a result of its design, but less aerodynamically stable, so as it slows it rolls into a vertical position and falls rapidly. |
Flash

Flash Target
Flash targets are found in the 110 mm configuration and are specifically prepared with a pouch of fluorescent colored powder underneath or on top of the dome. The flash target explodes on impact and provides a puff of colored smoke to show the "kill" more clearly. These targets are used for the final events in International competitions and for televised events. |
